The Wellington Water Watchers is a volunteer organisation which has been working for 5 years on protecting source water.
Water Watchers have recently submitted a Request for Review in partnership with the Council of Canadians to the Government of Ontario asking for a total review of the water permitting process as it applies to commercial bottling and environmental values. We do not believe that the Ontario Environmental Bill of Rights process is working. We encourage you to flood Minister Bradley with comments regarding the current Nestlé renewal of their permit on a farm near Hillsburgh. Nestlé purchased the farm and water rights and now trucks the water 50 kms to their Aberfoyle plant. Nestle is looking to get a 10 year renewal, The Wellington Water Watchers and the Canadian Chefs’ Congress oppose the exploitation of source water outright.

Please take direct action by sending your objection to Jim Bradley, Minister of the Environment at this address: minister.moe@ontario.ca. We need critical mass of people sending emails to the Minister now. Your email should contain the following text:
Dear Minister Bradley,
I along with The Friends of Hillsburgh Water in partnership with the Climate Change Action Group of Erin, Wellington Water Watchers, Council of Canadians and The Polaris Institute, oppose any renewal of this permit:

Proponent: Nestle Canada Inc.
Instrument Type: Permit to take water – OWRA s. 34

However, in light of the recently submitted Request for Review (RFR), we urge the Ministry of Environment of Ontario to immediately address:

the technical points listed within the RFR

the overwhelming concerns of this community as shared by so many others in Ontario where similar permits to take water exist.

Yours sincerely,

Please visit the Wellington Water Watchers website at the link below for more information on how to craft your message to Minister Bradley:
